Which actor played Ethan Hunt in the 'Mission Impossible' saga?

Tom Cruise has played Ethan Hunt in all seven 'Mission Impossible' films from 1996 to the present. Cruise, known for performing many of his own stunts, has performed increasingly dangerous stunts in the saga, including climbing the Burj Khalifa (the world's tallest building), clinging to the outside of a plane during takeoff, and performing a HALO (high-altitude low-altitude opening) jump.
